Ember Lab has finally revealed what it's been working on since Kena: Bridge of Spirits, and it's a sequel called Kena: Scars of Kosmora. The follow-up releases later this year for PS5 and PC, and you can catch the announcement trailer above.
Through the support of PlayStation, the second Kena title is said to be bigger and better than Bridge of Spirits. There'll be deeper combat systems, a bigger world, and more intricate boss fights. Here's the official setup:
Kena, now an accomplished Spirit Guide, travels to the mysterious island of Kosmora seeking a cure for her affliction and to reconnect with a friend from her past. There, she is confronted by a powerful corruption that fractures her staff. Needing it to survive, Kena must accept Kosmora's forgotten and dangerous form of Spirit Guiding that manipulates the elements. On her journey, Kena discovers and nurtures memorable spirit companions – whose powers she will harness to solve puzzles and defeat enemies using new elemental abilities.

Played Bridge of Spirits for the first time relatively recently and it was great fun, so this is awesome news.
Awesome. Cant wait for this. 2026 too.
this was a nice surprise. Didn't see this coming and it looks fantastic too. Great opener
SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS!
I platinum'd the first game and it was great.
Don't let the cartoony looks deceive you...the combat is CHALLENGING
@spcspc Yeah the bosses were way more difficult than I was expecting lol
Great game though and im glad I gave it a chance.
I really liked the first one. I wasn’t expecting a sequel as they kinda hinted they didn’t want to do one and intended do something new instead, had us all fooled there! Will wishlist as soon as it pops up on Steam.
Absolutely loved the first game - day one for me! So glad they made the second.
What a way to start the show. Can’t wait for this one.
Amazing news! Really love the first game
What a way to start this SOP, amazing
Fantastic reveal and one i didn't see coming. First game is excellent.
Hands up, who forgot Kena was a thing before this. Honestly though, it looks good but in a very safe way. I wouldn’t be surprised if a chart was involved in making it.
Slightly disappointed it doesn’t seem like this sequel will get released on Xbox too like the original. Loved the first game.
This was a huge surprise, and I think it looks awesome! The first one was really good.
I really liked the first Kena game so I'm really excited for this one.
Probably the most welcome surprise of the show. And it's coming this year. 👍
Sold. The first game was excellent.
I'm glad the team gets another shot. The first game had a lot of promise and a lot of problems. Hopefully Sony's involvement went beyond cutting checks lol. There's a great series in there, if they can get to it..
I'm not yet played the first game but this one looks solid. Gonna add this and the first game on my buying list!
One of the highlights of the show for me! And a total suprise, glad this didnt get spoiled by rumours
Is Emberlabs now part of playstation studios? Just that I saw the logo appear at the beginning of the trailer? 🤔
Soooo hyped for this. I loved the first one. Day one buy for sure. Now i just need to find a way to get the platinum trophy
@JTDST Yeah unfortunately, but maybe it'll get ported to Xbox by a different publisher
This pretty much made the rest of the state of play seem flat for me 😂
I'm so excited about this, it came totally out of a blind spot too, very very happy, bridge of spirits was a beautiful game
I predict Sony end up acquiring Ember lab after this game release.
@Questionable_Duck it won’t Sony funding the game and publishing it. This isn’t going to Xbox unless Sony want it to.
@Jay767 Sony funded the original Kena game as well as Death Stranding, FF7 Remake, Helldivers 2, etc. and yet they're still on Xbox. So no, if there's a timed exclusivity deal for this game then it may be possible for it to come to Xbox without Sony being directly involved. Just like with Death Stranding.
